Book Nook Cafe
(Case Study)
As the Visual UX Designer for Book Nook Cafe, my goal is to create a digital and physical space that embodies our mission of providing a welcoming, inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds can thrive. I focus on designing an experience that makes accessing resources simple and engaging, helping students connect with peers and pursue academic success without financial constraints. My design work goes beyond creating a study space—I aim to build a sense of community, where individuals can gather, share ideas, and feel truly at home.

Skills Used
Storyboarding
Storyboarding allowed me to map out the student experience step-by-step, visualizing how they interact with both the digital and physical aspects of the cafe.

Illustrator
Developed the visual identity by designing logos, icons, and other vector graphics that reflect the welcoming and inclusive nature of the space.
Personas
Personas helped me step into the shoes of different types of users—students who come to study, socialize, or seek resources. This allowed me to empathize with their challenges and desires, designing solutions that are more user-centered and inclusive.

Photoshop
Utilized Photoshop to edit photos of the cafe space, study events, and social gatherings. This involved adjusting lighting, colors, and compositions to create warm, inviting visuals that capture the sense of community.
Paper Prototypes
Began the design process with paper prototypes to sketch out ideas for the cafe’s digital interface and physical layout. This allowed for quick iteration, exploring different design possibilities and user flows before committing to digital prototypes.

Figma
Utilized Figma to design and prototype the digital interface for the Book Nook Cafe’s website and app. This involved creating wireframes, user flows, and interactive prototypes to test the usability and accessibility of the digital space, ensuring that students could easily navigate resources.
